The person behind Dash & Ramble.
I love that feeling when a new place gets under your skin. Someone welcomes you into their world, or you see something that makes you rethink what you thought you knew. You come home and find yourself still thinking about it weeks later. Those experiences are a big part of why I travel, and why I plan trips for other people.
You can’t promise someone a life-changing moment or put one on a schedule. But you can get to know them well enough to plan a trip where those moments have room to happen. How you want to feel is what I come back to as I design each itinerary.
Why Dash & Ramble?
Some people want a trip. Others want a vacation. Most of us need a different balance depending on where we’re going and what’s happening in our lives.
Personally, I lean toward the dash. I’m very good at finding one more thing to squeeze into a day. Lately, I’ve been choosing places that encourage me to ramble a little more. The name is a reminder to think about the pace, because a great itinerary on paper still has to feel good when you’re living it.
A little about Allison
Before Dash & Ramble, I spent 17 years teaching high school English. Every school break was an opportunity to go somewhere. If your travel dates revolve around the school calendar, I know that reality well. Those were my travel dates, too.
With a pilot for a dad and a flight attendant for a mom, I grew up knowing that even a well-planned trip can change without warning. Weather happens. Flights get delayed. You figure out what comes next and try to keep your sense of humor. That outlook has served me well, both on my own travels and when helping clients with theirs.
I’ve been planning travel professionally since 2021. There’s something different about getting to know a place through someone who calls it home, and I love helping clients find that sense of connection.
Experience, with people to call
I travel as much as I can to get to know the places I recommend firsthand. But I haven’t been everywhere or slept in every hotel, and I’ll be straightforward about that. I also draw on trusted colleagues and local partners whose judgment I know I can rely on.
